Prepared meals may save time, but they are not automatically cheaper than cooking. Compare the same number of meals, include delivery and use your own receipts.

What does a Munch Now plan cost?

MealsMeals + deliveryPer meal, including delivery
5£50 + £5 = £55£11.00

10£85 + £5 = £90£9.00
14£109 + £5 = £114£8.14, rounded

Compare like with like

If you are buying ten meals, compare them with ten meals you would otherwise eat. Do not compare a ten-meal order with your whole grocery bill: that bill may also cover breakfasts, snacks and other people’s food.

As an illustrative calculation, replacing ten £12 lunches costs £120. A £90 ten-meal order would be £30 less. But if your ten home-cooked portions cost £4 each, their ingredient cost is £40 and the prepared order costs £50 more. The £12 and £4 figures are examples, not researched London averages.

Count time separately from money

For one ordinary week, note the time you spend planning, shopping, cooking and washing up. Separate cooking you enjoy from tasks you would gladly avoid. Prepared food still needs ordering, storing and heating, so include that too.

There is no need to assign an invented hourly wage to your evening. You can simply decide whether the convenience is worth the difference in cash cost.

A fair comparison checklist

Choose the problem you want to solve

If you like cooking on Sundays but struggle with two late evenings, a full week of prepared meals may not be necessary. If the main issue is having lunch ready every workday, start by costing those five lunches.

Use the meal-count guide to map your week. Munch Now can cover selected meal slots; it does not have to replace all your cooking to be useful. A good choice is one you can afford, store safely and fit into the routine you already have.
